If there's one thing that the world agrees on is that we all love chocolate. At least most of us do. Chocolate is more than just a piece of candy or food, chocolate is a form of expression. Sounds crazy, but true. When you think of chocolate, the one word that pops out of your head is Love. Love is the highest form of affiliate with chocolate. That's why come Valentine's Day or any occasion that deals with feelings and love, chocolate is right around the corner. One great thing about chocolate is that it makes great cakes. Are you looking to make a delicious chocolate cake? There are so many variations, it might be difficult to choose a single recipe. Here's a simple one to get you started, along with several variations to suit the occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/3 cup of yeast
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • If making a larger cake use double.
  • If making a smaller cake use smaller bowl
  • If you want a more choclatey cake then you can use 1 1/4 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 150g golden caster sugar
  • 150g plain chocolate

Steps

  1. Beat butter till soft then add sugar and mix. Then when done add eggs by portions.
  2. Sift the dry ingredients together (flour, salt, baking soda and cocoa).
  3. Stir in the liquid ingredients (vanilla, water and milk).
  4. Pour the mixture into an 8 inch greased and floured round pan. (20cm)
  5. Bake at 350 degrees F for 40 or 50 minutes. (180 degree Celsius)
  6. Let the cake cool.
  7. Frost as desired.(frosting, icing)
  8. For an optional garnish, sprinkle chocolate chips on top of the cake.
  9. Enjoy your delicious chocolate cake.
